Recent changes to the Privacy Act, which came into effect on 21st December 2001, have imposed new privacy obligation on the private sector. These new obligations, known as the NATIONAL PRIVACY PRINCIPLES, set standards for the collection and use of personal information, and to ensure that this information is secure, complete and accurate.

The Viento Group and its group companies are committed to maintaining openness about how the company uses personal information.

When the company requests personal information, it will state the purposes for its use and to whom it may be disclosed.

Collection of Personal Information


In order to carry out our business we require information from investors as stated in the application form in the prospectus(es). This information is used to establish and maintain client registers, and to ensure all information is sent to investors.  We also use the information to update investors on current and future investment opportunities.

The Viento Group and its companies also maintains records of its shareholders and investors and keeps them informed of the Viento Group business activities. Collecting personal information also enables the company to meet any legal obligations the Viento Group might have.

What kind of Personal Information is collected


The following is typical of the personal information, which may be requested: Name, address, and all contact details including email.

If external funding is required the Viento Group may also request date of birth, income, assets and liabilities, account balances, tax and financial statements and employment details.  All information will be obtained directly from you unless otherwise advised by you.  Additional voluntary information may be requested to enable us to improve our service, the purpose will be advised to you at the time of request.

Use of Personal Information


Apart from maintaining records of your investment we may send you marketing material from time to time.  Unless you are informed otherwise, the personal information we hold is used for the purpose stated in the prospectus.  The information will also be used to give you ongoing information on opportunities that we believe may be of interest to you.  This information may also be given to anyone as authorised by you.

 

Sensitive Information


Some personal information is referred to as 'sensitive'.   Sensitive information relates to a person's racial or ethnic origin, membership of political bodies, religions or trade unions, sexual preferences or activities, criminal record, state of health and medical history. We do not collect this information.

With regard to the use of tax file numbers and information received from a credit reporting agency about an individual, where sensitive information is relevant to credit and other applications it is the Viento Group's policy that any sensitive information will be used and disclosed only for the purposes for which it was provided, unless the investor gives consent to its release to other parties.

Management of Personal Information


The Viento Group ensure that in the contracts of employment all employees are made aware of confidentiality and respect the privacy of its investors.

 

Storage of Personal Information


Ensuring the privacy of your information is important to us, regardless of whether this information is obtained through the application forms, over the telephone or by email. All personal information is held by a combination of computer data storage facilities and hard copies. Adequate steps are taken to ensure the protection of this information.

 

Maintaining Up to Date and Accurate Personal Information


To ensure that all personal information held is accurate and current we ask that investors keep us advised of any changes.

 

Investor's Rights to Check on Personal Information Held


Under the Commonwealth Privacy Act Principle 5 Openness, individuals have the right to obtain a copy of any personal information which the Viento Group holds about them and to advise the Viento Group of any inaccuracy.  To make a request, you will need to complete an application form verifying your identity and specifying what information you require.   We will respond as quickly as possible to your request, and reserve the right to make a small charge for this service.

 

If you have a Complaint


If you feel the Viento Group is in breach of this Privacy Policy Statement or the National Privacy Principles, or you are aware of any other internal beaches, we ask that you make the complaint to us.  In the event the complaint is not dealt with to your satisfaction you may contact Commonwealth Privacy Commissioner's hotline on 1300 363 992.
